I agree with Randy that the comments by readers about overreach were what concerned me the most in how the article was perceived. Without the government making rules, people will just do what they feel like doing. We already see that in states where the rules came late. I also agree that it’s not fear of the virus that makes people irresponsible. But, perhaps, it’s fear of fear. Fear is not the enemy here. It is speaking to us and we need to listen to it, not run away from it, avoid it, or shame others who are open about it. And, really, it’s only when we allow our feelings that we can think with a clear mind. There’s a lot of wasted energy that goes into avoiding feelings that we don’t like and it keeps us from doing what we really need to be doing.
