I hope that you're right about the lessons that we've been taught. I'm not as optimistic about that. I see too many people around me here in Texas who believe the pandemic is over, even while the numbers rise here again, and are back to the pre-pandemic manic behavior. It's quite alarming to see so many armchair critics sending hate to a young woman who has already achieved so much because she dared to make the decision to step away in order to protect herself. She's my hero right now, a reminder that it's OK to take care of myself. If she can do it, right there in view of the world, then we all can do it.

p.s. I can't help wondering if the reaction would be the same if her name were Simon and not Simone. After all, how many young women did the team doctor have to molest before anyone listened to the cries for help? Just a musing.....
