Thank you for this great blog!!! I have been a psychologist for almost 30 years and a therapist for longer than that. I have enjoyed self-help books, but have come to see the empty promises in many of them. I ended up writing my own "self-help" book from the perspective of a psychologist, which means that we have to accept looking at some difficult issues, we won't get far if we run from our own pain or the pain of others, and living with passion really means allowing ourselves to go there and to be willing to look at difficulties head-on. Sometimes, we need help with that. I'm most disturbed by the movement to only focus on the "positive" and completely ignore anything that's painful. At this point in time, this type of toxic spirituality is being weaponized, in a sense, telling people that wearing masks to prevent spreading a highly contagious and potentially dangerous virus is "fear based" and that "focusing on love" will keep us healthy. That's just irresponsible. I love to listen to what resonates with me with regard to following a passion or a dream, or to pick up something creative to do. But, "resonates" doesn't jive with health. We need to follow science and good reliable research for our guidance there. Thank you again! I look forward to reading more from you!
